i wanted to know whether the laptop hard disk be extended as of the desktop computers

yeah u can buy a new laptop drive and install it yourself, usually it is not too difficult, it would probably be simpler tho to buy an external hard drive, its cheaper and less headache and more portable.
consider also that if you want to install a new drive since there is only room in the laptop for one, you would have to transfer your important docs somewhere else so they can be transfered to the laptop again once u install the OS... so where are you going to put them...? i think an external HD is the way to go.

yes but it costs more to do due to labor and laptop hard drives are more expensive too. But yes it can be done.

If by "extended", you mean "Shared", yes.
