We had the same thing happen to us. Our son used Avent bottles no problem, but our daughter just didn't do well with them.
We went through almost every brand out there. We finally started to use the Playtex Ventaires, standard nipple. She doesn't require a lot of burping with these. For some reason she couldn't figure out the wider nipples.
Anyhoo, we use Playtex Ventaires for our daughter...she is 10 weeks old now.

The Playtex Nurser with the Drop-in liners are THE BEST, you can squeeze all the air out of them and they don't cause much gas. Also, the regular Gerber bottles, they have a smaller nipple that fits well in the baby mouth.

I see a lot of ladies have reccomended the Platex Nursers with Drop-Ins and I have to agree. We tried lots of bottles with our son before finding these ones. The added bonus to these bottles is that you throw away the liner so there is less cleaning! :)
You could also try the Platex Ventaire bottles but we did not like these at all!! They also have a few more parts than other bottles so they are kind of a pain to clean.

i use the vent aire bottles and they seem to work really well, they have a vent at the bottom that lets the air out so they dont get gas and the nipples are silicone which is better than latex, give those a try, they are nice, my son is only 11 days old but he seems to like them

she may prefer a smaller nipple. Some babies like the feel of the big wide nippple, some don't . Try traditional gerber or evenflo bottles. One of my nephews refused the silicone nipples, and would only take the old brown latex ones (gross!!!)

I use the playtex drop-in bottles and they work wounderfully!! My daughter likes the Yellowish brownish nipples better because they are softer.

we use the tommee tippee closer to nature bottle with the little hole in the top of them (same idea as the dr browns-it lets air in and out of the bottle) and no fiddling with tubes.

If your concern is just gas... just add gas drops to each bottle and your problem is solved. If your concern is nipple shape - you car try switching around from the latex to sillicone.

Have you tried the Playtex nurser with the bags? My cousin's gf used those for awhile. She personally didn't care for them, but her daughter was lots less gassy.
