If you want the best deal in Vegas, I'd have to say Ellis Island. Its a short walk (1-2 blocks) behind Bally's. They have a $4.95 steak special that can't be beat plus $1.50 microbrews that are really good.

Mon Ami Gabi at Paris is also a really great place to eat if you want something still casual but classy. You can sit on the patio and watch the fountains at the Bellagio.

If you want an upscale restaurant off strip, look up Rosemary's. I beleive its rated the best restaurant in Vegas. I've never tried it because its waaaaay out of my price range.

One of my absolute favorites is the Peppermill. Its located on the strip, between the Wynn and the Riviera. It has a diner that is open 24 hours and an upscale lounge that has the coolest fire pit. There are purple neon lights everywhere and you get the old-time Vegas feeling. The portions there are huge (large enough for 2 people to split with some left over!) and they have an awesome 10 egg omlet in the mornings.

We like eating at the Outback Steakhouse - best New York Strip we've ever had. There is a branch at the Casino Royale hotel or if you head up towards the Outlet Mall past Mandalay Bay (about 10 minute drive) you'll find another branch up there.

Harleys diner is not bad.

To be honest I struggled to find eating places that weren't in the casinos. But there is a great Mexican restaurant in NY NY and a fab eating place in Monte Carlo

My fave Italian place is Nora's Cuisine, about 3 miles west of the Strip on Flamingo.

Everything I've ever had from their menu is superb, and the ambience is quite charming.

Here's their official website:

Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. It is in the Flamingo but you don't have to go into the hotel/casino to get there, they have their own entrance.

Food, music and entertainment is fabulous

What kind of food do you like?

I can personally recommend:

(Mexican) Chapala's or Macayo (Macayo is my favorite restaurant!)

(Indian) Ghandi Indian Cuisine

(German) Cafe Heidelberg

They're all not too far off the Strip.
