I said album as in vinyl, gatefold sleeve, when you had credibility walking up the street with a Logoed bag and not a CD that disappears into the rest of your shopping.

My top 5

1 Made In Japan - Deep Purple
2. Live And Dangerous - Thin Lizzy
3. On Your Feet Or On Your Knees - Blue Oyster Cult(a hidden gem that not many people know about)
4. Seconds Out - Genesis
5. Live Bursting Out - Jethro Tull

Ah, a vinyl elitist! No forum or message board is complete without one...okay:

Heart - Greatest Hits Live
Grateful Dead - Live/Dead
Iron Maiden - Live after Death
Minutemen - Ballot Result
1969: The Velvet Underground Live

And I do own all of these on vinyl...any vinyl record consisting of three or four sides usually sounds bad on one CD, as the artist probably intended it to be a little fragmented.

How about the original live record? KISS ALIVE!

Before this album was released every "live" record was dubbed over a miked audience. Although some over-dubs had to be done because some parts were not high enough quality it is still considered to be the first real live album ever.

I'll go for "Live Dates" by Wishbone Ash, I have other joint favourites (too hard to pick just one), but they've already been mentioned.

Or how about playing AC/DC's fantastic "If You Want Blood You've Got It!" twice?!

I thought Thunder "Live" (double CD) was great, sadly it wasn't released on vinyl though (the full version would have required a triple LP).

Some good ones already listed, so I'll just add these.
Live in the Air Age - Be-Bop Deluxe.
The original 1977 version had a bonus EP so it sort of counts.
Song remains the same - Led Zeppelin.
