I have 5 tetras in a fresh water tank. Last night I noticed the smallest one is missing an eye. It is swimming around and eating like normal but it looks horrible. What should I do with it? Should I change the water (it was due for a cleaning), Add conditioner or salt?

There really isn't anything you can do for the fish unfortunately. Just keep the tank clean while it heals and odds are food it will live for years more. Adding conditioners (other than dechlorinator for the water change of course) or salt or any other chemical is a bad idea at this point. If you see no disease to treat, don't try to treat the tank.

Yes just do the water changes as normal. Put it in a hospital tank (if you have one) It was probibly picked on because it was the smallest

Hi Kelly, it will be fine-add a little salt to the water at your next partial change, the link below gives you some dosage measurements.

I have the same problem. I have fancy guppies. One of my females had the same thing happen a few days ago. I think what is happening is that the other fish have targeted the the fish and are trying to kill it. I don't know why. It may be from mating.
