I was in some store with my sister and a remix of Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall was on. I was totally disturbed, it was like they took the song, hacked it with a axe, then fed it through the grinder and pulled Roger Water's vocal chord out... It was terrible.
Does anyone feel like remixes destroy songs that were perfectly good beforehand?

And I'm almost sure Pink Floyd didn't agree to have their song killed like that.

Remixes are for the tone deaf and musically very very challenged. I know because I polled a number of people from the music group I belong to and guess what? Most of the people who loved them cannot hold a note, could not get a melody from a malady and are musical losers.
Remix is supposed to have originated as a improv concept, but except for some Jazz remixes, I have not heard anything innovative in them.
But, since we are a compassionate country, we need something for the musically retarded as well, so that is why we permit and encourage remixed music.

depends on the song. i've never heard the remix of Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall and i don't plan to. in my opinion rock is not meant to be messed with. pop and dance songs usually have the best remixes.

More times than not the younger generations end up giving them credit for the remixes too, because they don't know any better. Supertramp's 'Girlfriend' song was remixed recently by Gym Class Heroes; Rhianna stole the background from Soft Cell's 'Tainted Love' song and made S.O.S; Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit sings George Michael's 'Faith' ... the list goes on and its just not right.

I think remixes are okay when you are in the club but anywhere else it doesn't really work. I especially hate when you don't realize it is a remix and you get really into the song and are about to sing out the chorus really loudly.. and then it's not there.

Yes in ways I do agree. Most remixes don't do justice to the original. But.... It does sometimes allow a different genre to be exposed to a great song they might have otherwise never heard.

I absolutely despise remixes, especially the Linkin Park/ Jay-Z remixes. Linkin Park screwed their music up by teaming with him. Remixes absolutely destroy the original song they're trying to "improve".

I can see having a different person sing our National Anthem at the Super Bowl every year, but when someone records a top 40 hit, it shouldn't be copied by another artist. If people want to sing someone else's song, do it the Karaoke way, not as a recording.

Remixes are for crap artists who can't think of anything original and have to take someone elses work and spoil it and feed it to unsuspecting youngsters who've never heard the originals and who pay out good money for ripped off and ruined work! I HATE REMIXES!
