"When her mother's heart stopped, her inutero
child does not die instantly. Instead, the inutero
baby dies slower. When the mother's heart stops
beating, the baby begins to suffocate for lack of
oxygen. The baby can feel. The baby is in pain. At 4
minutes, the baby begins to suffer severe
neurological damage. The process gets worse.
Baby would have finally died 15 minutes
after her mother had been killed."

Unfortunately not long but in that case you have to wonder if it was for the best that the baby didnt survive. It is going to be hard enough on the little boy growing upwith this hanging over his head. Then you have to look at the fact that if she(the baby) had survived would they have been seperated in care and the such. This is such a hard question. All the ifs buts and maybes come into it and if the father did do it would he have actually left her alive enough or in a place for her to be found where the baby could have been successfully born...

Isn't this terrible??? This is what I thought about when Laci Peterson died, along with baby Conner inside her waiting to be born.
Gee, I would think the baby could survive only a few minutes without oxygen from mom's blood. In an emergency C-section it only takes minutes to retrieve a baby and it usually needs rescusitation efforts.

Only a few minutes. Because since the carrier was killed all body funtions stop, even functions that support the fetus. The placenta is a living tissue by the carrier and with the carrier destroyed the placenta dies and w/o a placenta the baby will die as well unless it is taken out quickly.

This makes me sick, the ENTIRE story!!! Yuck. I knew a woman who was killed in a car wreck several years ago... SHE was only 25 weeks pregnant....I live in a small town with NO hospital, only a walk in clinic, and they delivered her preemie after they got to the "scene of the crash" and got the mother on artificial respirations, (several minutes after death) and they delivered her baby by Csection a week or two after she died, but she was on a vent. Sortof a mom "housing" her baby. They baby survived, obviously and sadly Mom did NOT, and is a pre teen now who lives with her Daddy. The Ohio Mom and baby and Laci Peterson/Conner make me ill to think about. Why do they kill the pregnant Moms? Is it ALL about child support??? Is it always about the MONEY??? What is wrong with people? THE DEVIL. That is my experience with a post mortem delivery.

I am really not sure, but it is very disturbing! I am sure that there is not a lot of time, but regardless it is a terrible situation. I feel so badly for her son as well. Here he is with a mother who has been killed, a baby brother/sister that has dies and now his father is accused of the murder! What is going on in our society?

Depends on if she is in the hospital already or not. Doctors can actually keep the baby on a life support until it is ready to come out of the womb. Basically even if the mother is brain dead, the machines will keep her body functioning to keep the fetus alive.

I think its like a minute or two. Once the viability of the oxygen in the blood expires. However long it takes for the baby to suffocate.

As soon as her organ stop working and shutting down, so will the babies. The babies feeds and lives off the mother. This is so sad.
