Your egg will sink in ordinary water.

You will have to add salt to the water until your egg is barely floating, then use a "flotation hydrometer" to determine the density of the salty water. ...or, you could keep track of how much water you had, and how much salt you added, and calculate the density (don't ask me how, I don't know).
