Two different inventors have a car that runs on compresed air. One is in France the other in Austraila. MDI of France has agreed to jointly produce the car in India in 2008. Range is 125 miles, top speed 68 and takes 4 hours to recharge its own compressed air while plugged in. For normal city driving, totally pollution free, and hardly no cost to run, this could turn around our auto industry.

Even it they do mostly city driving, people still want to be able to take their vehicles on longer trips on occasion. A car like this would have a real life limit of trips no more than 50 miles from home. Ther is no real market demand for something like this in the US, so the sutomakers are not going to build something that they know will not be popular!

A car with a Top speed of 68 mph and 125 mile range would be of no use to the American auto industry. Americans drive fast and far and that car would be unpopular with Americans. Also the claim that it is pollution free is false because there is power used to compress the air and that power is produced by a coal burning power plant. What you mean to say is that it has zero visible pollution.

I read about that on the net recently. I think the American Automakers (and independent labs) should always be aggressive in the search of any alternatives that will ween us off the big oil companies.

Part of the anwers is found in the statement "Of course, the Air Car will likely never hit American shores, especially considering its all-glue construction." Saftey.

I'd say that it a possibility that it will eventually make it here.
Sure Exxon will fight it behind the scenes
