When Hermese Trismegitus said that "all is in the mind," he explained it thus: That since God is the ultimate All and for that nothing could exist outside of God, then it must be that all is created in the mind of God. We are all a dream, a daydream, perhaps.

Now think about the world that lives in your mind, your fantasies and day dreams. Think of all those with whom you have populated your internal universe. Tell me, would you be a good god, loved and adhored by all?

Sometimes I see myself in dreams; do the other residents of my mind write weighty theologies on the hypostatic union while I am not dreaming about them?

I would be a terrible and capricious god, unfortunately -- the consequence of reading rather too much Kafka at an early age.

Humans first created Gods as polytheistic to explain natural weather phenomena, the whole God concept is illogical and is dangerous when taken too far.

That said, yes, I think I would be a loving God. I certainly would send all those who don't believe in me to eternal torture. With our present Abrahamic monotheistic faiths, the bar is not set very high, as religion is based on little more than culture.

what was hermese smokin' that day? first of his statement is incorrect, so there for his observation in incorrect. this guy had no clue about the character of God, which is much revealed in the words of the Bible. I don't know the god he seems to describe, must be one of those typical man controlled quasi spiritual ones, that mankind can change and control to fit his present social wants and whims. My God is not some air headed egg head, He will not be mocked, he continually shows that man in all his wisdom, is but a fool in the ways of the Lord. We are not a Dream, although Hemese seems to walk around in one. To me , this gyuy is just another atiest, who is trying to justify his inane interpetations of life, through a God he characterized and makes incorrect base statements about, to make hmself seem full of depth and insight into the mysteries of life. the truth is ' "We see through the glass darkly" mankind whole exixtance is but a twinkling of and eye, in the span of the great "I AM", we are foolishly arrogant and continually rebellious to our creator, constantly wanting to control our world and universe , by our standards, that we adjust to make us feel in control. And god sit's back and laughs at those who think they comprehend, the uncomprehendable. With good there is no time, there is no fact of time, time is only a concept , yet mankind is totally incabable of thinking on any subject without the concept of time, and that little matter alone, shows that we are low grade moroons at best in understanding the more wiegthy things of life and the universe. nuff said

I would be a pragmatic god loved but most feared by some. Wretched creatures need equal karma. The one thing I would not do is give cancer to little babies and allow mothers to be homeless in the streets. Despair doesn't bring tested faith, it merely creates fear.

while one could look at it as God is all, and we are a dream of God's, you also might say God is all, we are all part of God, so hence we all together make up God,,

either way, i know myself well enough to know that while i try to be a good , caring person, its a good thing i dont have witch powers or hex powers, as alot of people would be walking around sprouting tails, big ones, lol
so i am not sure i would be that good!

Delusions of godhood are the symptoms of mental illness.

Many philosophers have suffered mental illness as a product of their thinking. This is not different.

Humans, by definition, are not gods.

Since we were all created by God it would be like making a copy of a copy--could never be as good as the original. :-)

No I'd be a tyrant, telling people that if they don't worship and love me they'll be tortured for all eternity after they die.^_^

I wouldn't care if people loved me but I'll just try to do a good job. At least I would know I'm doing a good job! :-)
Take care
