Scroll through the answers .... and we can see how males react to this picture and females, completely differently! Men have always looked at this phenomenon of giving life MORE as a byproduct to something else than by design. Women react with pride, love and a sense of creation . That stands them apart from men.
The present day younger generation should know that giving birth was not always this "messy"as they call it. In the earlier times it was as natural as the animals giving birth.
Now , like everything else in life it is commercialised , blown out of proportion. There are even societies around the world, where the baby is "taken out" at an auspicious time according to astrology!!!!!.
A new born just coming out and getting its lungs filled with worldly air is a reminder of the presence of a creator.

When we are born, we are an unknown.
We are a question, a conundrum.
What will we be? What will we do?
Are we to be a blessing or a curse?
A light with which to see
or torch with which to burn?
That is unknown to us.
We are but a package whose gift
is unwrapped and untested.
The answers only come in time
and always too late to save us.
Hitler, Attila the Hun, Gensis Khan, Albert Swietizer, Albert Einstein, even Freud were once babies and were loved very much.

That's beautiful! Emotional!
Somewhere in the midst of that, is a little heart beating! The clock of life!
Nevertheless, it makes me feel a little sad. He/She isn't aware of all of the pain and tragedies that take place in this world!
Imagine a wonderful little bundle of joy that starts off so pure and innocent, but can you guarantee that will be the case in 15 years time?
I think that amazing picture could be inspirational and motivation for mothers to bring up their child in the best way possible. So that they end up a lovely, good natured human being with nice intentions.
Regards

It brings back memories! A little shocked at first as I wasn't expecting it but then made me think "sweet", then noticed the tube in his little nose and wondered if he was ok.
YD - "Now , like everything else in life it is commercialised , blown out of proportion." I can assure you that the eighteen and a half hours I spent in labour was neither commercialised nor blown out of proportion!! I don't know if you're a girl or a guy and if you have children or not but you may want to rethink that comment!

From the moment the baby is hurled out of its mother's womb and into planet earth there will be a struggle. Nothing will come easy or cheap. Pain will be a lasting presence until the day it dies. Not just pain, though, oh no ... hope, peace, the search for love, the search for joy. Suffering leads to growth.

Intrigued by the many responses.
From a mere physical point of view, it's disturbing, disgusting, disconcerting.
But emotionally, my heart is warmed. It's a birth, a new life, it's where I came from, it's where a part of me will be when I have kids.
