The best vacation is where you can relax and learn. Visit places where you can see new and interesting things, meet people of different cultures. This is real travel, in contrast to just taking a trip somewhere. Go from the east coast to the west, or the deep south to the north east or west. Visit Europe and see history. Even going to Hawaii can be an experience if you just get out of the tourist areas. You can never go wrong in expanding your mind at the same time as you relax and have fun.

It depends on what your interests are.
Some like to just go away to some place, relax in the sun, on the beach. I like to see new places, especially concerning the History of the place or the Geography. This is why I enjoy visiting places with mountains, esp snow-capped ones in Spring; waterfalls, canyons etc. I like places with a lot of History, sites that have a lot of stories and History about them.
There are those who look for thrills in rides , then these would go to amusement parks.
Some who love the outdoors might plan vacations involving camping and fishing or hunting.
