First of all how old is the baby? If it's the baby you gave birth to 3 weeks ago that you stated in your other post then the baby shouldn't be sleeping in a car seat. As for a crib I had four kids and I never had them sleep in a crib until they were at least 3 months old they always slept in a bassinet. The cribs are to big for them and they seem to get scared in them since a bassinet is smaller then they feel more safe.

I know they say not to let your baby sleep on the stomach - BUT... all 3 of mine so far would only sleep on their stomach. Just make sure that there is nothing up by the face. If you watch the discovery health channel there is a program on there called Special delivery and it is about babies born with complications or pre-mature, anyway in the hospital they put the babies on their bellies sometimes - I have seen it on almost every episode.
I think they really don't know what causes SIDS and they are just being cautious about everything that could possibly happen.
But, I would try to get my baby to sleep else where because you are forming a bad habit. Let it fall asleep on you and then move it to the bed.

I was really wondering about the whole sleep thing also. My dad said that when I was a baby they let me sleep on my stomach, but they put an afgan under me, you know the blanket with the holes in it (like its knitted out of yarn and quite thick). So this way, he says, it allowed me to sleep and if my face went to far under me then I could still breathe. But today everyone says that it is really bad to let your baby sleep on its stomach. So I don't know. On babycenter.com they also said it is a no no. But then also I was wondering, if they are on their backs and they throw up? wouldn't that also cause choking and a problem there? Well, here is the website.

I had a similar problem when one of my kids were babies. my second daughter like to sleep on her tummy too. literally, as soon as we brought her home from the hospital. she somehow get herself on her tummy in her bassinet. weird... i didn't want her to lay on her tummy that young either, so i bought a sleep assister--you can find them at any baby store(Babies R Us) or any store that sells baby stuff(Target, Wal-Mart)

It looks like a little blanket with two soft tubes velcroed at the sides. the assister helps baby stay in a certain position and is very safe and comfortable. You can move the soft tubes to make a custom fit for baby!

in my case, i compromise with my daughter. she hated her back, but the tummy wasn't safe. so i adjusted the soft tubes so she will sleep on her side! she loved it!
one thing to remember if you chose to use the sleep assister is that you want to make sure that your baby doesn't sleep in the same way all the time
babies heads are soft and can easily be misshapen. i would alternate the side my daughter slept on to avoid a "dented" head.
Good luck, hope this helps

Well, then I suggest you let the baby fall asleep then roll him over.

Not all babies will die if they sleep on their belly.
