Ok.. I'm getting married in less than two months and need a special bra for my dress. I was going to get the 100-way bra from Victoria's Secret and wanted to be sure I got the right size so I measured myself with their size guide. According to them [and other websites I checked], I should wear a 38A but, they don't even have that size at all! What do I do???

I would go to the Victoria Secret store and have them (probably ask for the manager with more experience) measure you to make sure, and maybe they could figure something out with you! Good luck!

When Victoria's Secret measures your size, they take the size around your rib cage and add 4 to 5 inches to get your band size (at least that's what their site says, and most associates will do this), then they measure around the fullest part of your bust. Each inch difference between their band size for you and your bust measurement is your cup size.

Cup Sizes (Inches Different):
0 - AA
1 - A
2 - B
3 - C
4 - D
5 - DD

If that were the case I'd be a 40-AA. I'm not though.

The best way to measure the band size is to measure directly below your bust, and also above (being sure to not let the tape dip lower on your back). It usually is very close, but go with the larger size first (which is typically the one from above your bust), if it doesn't work try the smaller size. Then use this to figure your cup size.

When you measure, be sure to wear an unlined or lightly lined bra (that doesn't push-up or minimize), and use a cloth measuring tape. Also, make sure that you are relaxed. When you measure for the band, the tape should be snug, and when you measure for the cup, the tape should be a little relaxed (but not to loose). You may want a friend to help.

For me, my band size is exactly 35 inches, so I could either go a little tighter and wear a 34, or a little loose and wear a 36. My measurement around my fullest point is 40. Based on that, if I would be a DD or a D respectively.

For anyone who doesn't know, those are sister sizes, meaning that the cup sizes hold the same volume. For example:

38-B = 36-C = 34-D = 32-DD
38-C = 36-D = 34-DD

If you're like me and can easily go with two sizes, I'd recommend buying a bra in each size, because there may be days when you need it a little more loose or tight.

You may need to experiment with the band size, but remember, it should always be snug and not ride up. Also, the bottom of the band should be parallel with the ground.

Also, when you try on a bra, it should fit on either the middle or last hook. Never the tightest. The reason is that as bras age, they stretch, and that's when you move in to the tightest set of hooks.

Hope that helps.

Victoria's Secret Bras are crap... I would really suggest a professional fitting at an upscale lingerie shop. There you will get the appropriate bra/underwear for you special occassion... You don't want to be the bride with some weird bra line under the dress.. I've seen it and it's not pretty... Save the sexy stuff for the honeymoon....

According to Victoria's Secret I should wear a 32AA, but I really wear a 34A or 32B. Have them measure you in the store and then try some different sizes on and they'll tell you which fits you best.

And Congratulations on the wedding! :)

Go to the store and also any other stores that carry a large assortment of bras and let them measure you. They can then help you order a bra and get the correct fit. Try Lane Bryant also.

That's because it's impossible to be a 38A. A's run from 30s - 36s. You should get a 36 - it will be tighter and hold you in better.
