graduation dance: how NOT to cry?

im graduating in a few days from elementary school and im in grade 8 going into high school and i KNOW im gonna cry at grad, iv even teared up in my bed at night thinking about it. i love my class, and even our poor tiny school. ill miss the stupid assemblies, and even the meanest teachers. i just cant let go of the amazing times we had together. PLEASE give me some tips or things to think about so i can stop myself from crying?

iv been at this school my whole life, since kindergarten. and ughh, im doing the valedictorian speech thing and what if i cry when reading it?

Relax, I'm sure you'll reunite in high school. For me, It was pretty sad leaving elementary school, but good times lie ahead of you. You'll have better times in high school, so just think of the future. Chances are most of your friends will still be at your high school, and even if not, you'll still make a lot more friends, and a lot more memorable moments to be had in high school. Plus you can always keep in touch.

I'm graduating high school this thursday, and I feel the same way. Well maybe not feel like crying, but I feel as if a part of me is missing. If anything, you should be worrying about that the once you graduate high school, because that's when everyone will be scattering across the country to study abroad.

So just don't worry, high school is so much more fun, you'll make much more friends, and really elementary school pales in comparison with high school. Just remember to make the best of your high school years, since you only have four.

There is really nothing wrong with crying. It will hurt you more to hold back your feelings. After a good cry, you would feel a lot lighter and less burdened.

If you really don’t want to cry though, think like this. There will be more memories to cherish in the future, especially in high school when your life blossoms. Really, middle school is not the end of everything. I’m sure you will miss things in the past but it isn’t wise to dwell on it. You will meet your middle school friends in high school (if you stay in your town) and even if you don’t, you can keep in touch with everyone thru phone or msn. Don’t cause grief on yourself because you will meet great people in high school too.
