Insurance should be pretty low. Expensive to run? V8 yes. Diesel much better. I used to run a Defender 110 200 TDi and taht was around 30mpg. I now have a Discovery 300TDi & that does over 30mpg. My wife complained about the lack of comfort in the Defender! Hope this helps.
