Exactly what is it people see in this film that I don't?

From someone who walked out of the film in disgust 30 minutes in back when it was released.

Even the greatest movies in history have the people who call it garbage (American Beauty cough cough*).

For me The Goonies was an adventure most kids would have loved to have experienced. It was full of crazy characters, twists and turns... pirates. The story was debatable but the movie had a great cast of characters/actors who really brought the movie alive. It gave kids the feeling that even though you might be a kid, you can accomplish something great, sock it to the adults so to speak. It just was a movie that made me smile, even now when I think about it brings a smile to my face. But once again, just opinion on my part, but I think thats a pretty standard answer among the fans.

It's a good movie for kids to learn to stick together and try to help each other out.... it also is a good movie on not judging people (chunk and the big guy) and becoming friends... all in all its a decent kids movie

It was and is one of my favorite movies.I own it on dvd and watch it when I get bored and have nothing to do.I always wanted to go on an adventure like that when I was a kid.It has action,adventure,pirates...booby traps...gold...pirates ship...the Fertellis.Good clean fun for the whole family.
