In past times, divorce was something that wasn't done. Simple as that. It was looked down upon. People were forced to work their problems out, find solutions, and work things out. Nowadays, divorce has been made so simple. Instead of working things out and sticking through the hard times, they see the way out is divorce. Also I think people nowadays take marriage too lightly. They go into it with the thoughts that "if this doesn't work out, I can always get divorced." If you are having those kinds of thoughts, you shouldn't be getting married in the first place. The meaning of marriage has changed. People are doing it for the wrong reasons and that has become the norm. It is a sad day when you look around at all the people you know and all the people around you and can honestly say that the only person you have ever known who has never been divorce is your 83 year old grandmother.

Here is the thing... society has changed. I think it is fantastic that you want a long term marriage and i admire you for that. today divorces are easy and acceptable to get. it was frowned upon more so years ago. Also today people rush into relationships and many times they are to young to realize that they have more growing up to do. so in the end they take the easy way out and get a divorce instead of trying to work through and make it.

Because people don't truly commit and or they jump into the marriage for all the wrong reasons. Society also makes it easy to meet other people on the internet, Phone and etc... Some people seek another's attention when there's trouble in Denmark instead of trying to repair the problem at home.

With the invention of TV society has changed.Women no longer need men to get pregnant, thanks to artificial insemination, and having their own careers. Divorces are easier to obtain instead of digging in and fighting for your marriage. Now there are still alot of long lasting marriages out here (just celebrated 27 yrs yesterday myself on my 53rd birthday) but if one enters a marriage thinking it wont last then its starting already doomed. Just fight for what you believe in and whatever the rest of the world does doesnt matter

There's a more liberal attitude about "if it doesn't work, just get a divorce!"... and money is a leading factor for marital problems and divorce, and we live in a world fueled by $$$, material belongings and "keeping up with the Jones."
A more liberal world as far as sex goes, so I suppose more temptation...
I was born in the 60's and the vibe was entirely different. This is just a more stress inducing world in general. All that affects marriages.
Have a great one!

The reasons for marital instability these days are impatience, selfishness, shallowness in relationships etc on the part of the spouses. When couples differ seriously, instead of trying to plug the hole they just go for a divorce, which is easier to obtain these days.

Americans are into quick fixes and instant gratification. The babyboomer generation was instrumental in changing our cultural values when they were young. Then as adults, they were the Me generation so when they were not happy, they also pioneered the "no fault" divorces to start things over, rightly or wrongly. Boomers' children have learned from their parents well.

WRONG & HASTY selecton is responsible for breakup. Parents of girls r responsible for that that they just want to get their young daughters settled as soon as possible from security point of view as the present time is not in general good for girls.
