Every person who said yes to this question needs to spend a week with me at juvenile court. Almost all crime (except juvenile sex offenders ) and juvenile delinquency is related to marijuana usage. 99% of all the kids who drop out of school use marijuana. People who use marijuana as children are more likely to use harder drugs as adults. You also need to see all the crimes that are committed against children while parents/significant others are using marijuana. I'd like to show you pictures of burned babies, drowned babies, children with scars on their back; neglected and children who fail to thrive due to parents' marijuana usage, children who've been shot. After you see the effects of marijuana abuse on children, then you are qualified to answer this question.

???????? It's Illegel? I'm Tubin a Horker right now. Am I in truble? Seriously, Everyone has the right to put into their body what they want. The War on Drugs is a useless waste of time, resources, money, talent etc, etc. By every metric used it has been and will continue to be a failure. It is impossible to police the world. All of the "Wars" being waged today use noble motives as the reason for their existence. Terror, Poverty, Drugs, Iraq etc. I smoked Pot voraciously about twenty years ago. I haven't had the desire to touch it since. I stopped because it turned me into a globular mass that did not achieve much in that time. I did not stop because of the threat of incarceration. I know that it would take little effort to find a resource for it. It is everywhere around us so it seems our Noble War has had very little effect. I do not believe we have the right or power to physically stop people from using it and trying it let alone locking the up behind bars for the rest of their life. Can you think of anything more idiotic than spending over 50K a year to keep someone locked up? We pay for that. I believe education and personal responsibility for your own actions are the best defense. There are people that use it every day with little ill effects. Others are not so lucky. Medicinal Marijuana has great potential. In fact it has so much potential it probably poses a threat to established drug corporations that do not want it to be legalized (no patent). I hope it passes.

No, there are too many opportunities for abuse. There's no guarantee that only adults will smoke it. It would still get in the hands of children. even if there were laws governing who could possess marijuana. We can't completely prevent kids from access to liquor and cigarettes as it is.
There are studies that show when young kids smoke pot, there is a risk of their emotional development and maturity being "frozen" For example, if they start smoking it at 13 years of age, their emotional development and maturity could stop at 13. Even when they chronologically become adults, they still think and reason as 13 year olds.

However, I believe that possession of small amounts for personal use (18 or over) should be a misdemeanor. Truth is that if people are discrete about smoking pot and do it it in the privacy of their homes, there's usually no problem.. Unless they think the person is selling or growing the dope, most cops have better things to do than bust down the doors to catch somebody toking. It's just not cost effective law enforcement.

BTW, I haven't smoked ANYTHING for almost 15 years. Can't stand to have any type of smoke in my lungs.

Yes they should. It would be a great source of income for the nation. Why won't they make it legal? Because they wont be able to control it like tobacco. I can find a marijuana seed in one second. I mean where can u get a tobacco seed?

Of course not.

How would Piss Test makers make money?

How would "drug abuse counclers" make money?

How would prosecutors and defense attorneys make money?

How would prison guards make money? 3/4 of the people in jail are there on drug charges.

How would Prison for Profit companies like Wackenhut and Corrections Corp Make money?

How could cops make up for a slow crime day and still make their arrest quota without courting any danger?

How could politicians inflate "crime" stats and promise to "get tough" on something that will always get applause?

How would the CIA fund black ops?

How would your local police department in Podunk Iowa justify all that SWAT gear, the hummers and the battering ram tank?

How would cops be able to continue to accept bribes to look the other way when the "big guys" are operating?

How would the advertising industry survive without all the bucks they make on those "frying pan" commercials?

How would the beer companies make money when everyone only drinks half as much beer?

How would the pharmaceutical industry survive without selling us all sorts of pills to make us happy?

How would the county of Humbolt survive: the whole town buys a lot of houses and trucks and farm equipment every year at harvest time. When the helecopters killed all the weed on the Big Island of Hawaii, the entire island died economically. It's one big ghetto now.

In short, even "thinking" that making marijuana legal is a good idea means that pot has already made you crazy.

Too much money is being made by too many people that are NOT pot dealers for them to ever even consider the idea.

And dealing pot is a great way to make money too: as long as it's illegal. If it was legal the profit margin would drop to nothing.

Illegal flowers is also a great way to put a large portion of the population in jail or on probation so you can keep an eye on 'em. Ever notice that every episode of COPS is about busting people for drugs? If they made drugs legal, what would those guys on COPS do, investigate real crimes? What would real cops do? Catch real criminals with guns? I don't think so. Pot laws make being a cop a cushy job that any puss could do.

Don't hold your breath. Just find your way to make money off the situation and don't get caught.

Legalizing and taxing it could reduce law enforcement expenses and provide revenue to use for things like an anti-pot campaign similar to the anti-tobacco campaign.

All in all, it is hard to tell if the pluses will outweigh the negatives.

I THINK they should make it legal. However, it won't happen, but if they ever did, they should pass laws that regulate its' use. For instance, just like with alcohol, if you smoke to much, you shouldn't operate a motorvehicle.

Yes! There are too many people in jail for smoking a weed. We are wasting time and money on non criminals!
