I'm looking at 2 laptops right now. They are definetly worth for the price but I am stuck with which one to get. I want a laptop that can run graphic games very nice and be very fast too. I play games such as counter strike source and day of defeat source and I want the laptop to play these games with no lag and very well. I am looking at a Compaq Presario laptop and a Gateway MT3707.

Compaq Presario: 100GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm), NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA) graphics with up to 288MB shared video memory, AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2, 1.6GHz of speed, 1GB of RAM, and has Windows Vista Home Premium preloaded.

Gateway MT3707: 160GB Parallel ATA hard drive (5400 rpm), ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M graphics with up to 256MB HyperMemory (total of local and shared system memory used by GPU), 1GB of RAM, 1.6GHz of speed, Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core, and Windows Vista Home Premium preloaded.

Which one will run my games a lot better and be very fast?
If you have one of the comps. please tell

I have also been shopping for a laptop ... and this is what I have discovered....
All computers have good and bad reps .. personally I have always thought Compaq to be a good brand :)

1GB is only "adequate" to run Vista .. you'll need 2GB RAM ... especially if you are going Dual Core.

the 6150 and ATI 200m are low end video cards and will not satisfactorily play your games. You should look for an ATI x800 or higher or a Geforce 6800 or higher.

And as mentioned in one of the other answers you should also look for dedicated memory .... preferably 256BM or higher. Then if there is shared memory it will just be extra boost.

With these specs in mind you will be hard pressed to find a laptop under $1100 USD .... I hope your budget has room.

Also, there is a tremendous amount of information out there .. just Google "gaming laptop" ... it will open your eyes.

Good luck on your search.

I wouldn't buy either. I have owned 6 laptops in the last 8 years, the worst of which were 2 Gateways and a Compaq. I will spare you the boring details, but know this: I will NEVER buy a computer from either compay again. I prefer Dell. The 4 Dells I and my husband have owned have been very reliable and the customer service has been excellent. Why have I owned 4? Because I use my computer about 10 hours a day, I prefer to upgrade when new technology is available, and I'm clumsy (-;

I know that for every unhappy story about a computer company there are 10 happy stories. However, for me, it's Dell all the way.

none of theses computer will run games very good if at all. both these computers have integrated graphics.

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA) graphics with up to 288MB shared video memory

ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M graphics with up to 256MB HyperMemory (total of local and shared system memory used by GPU),

wen it says shared memory it means it has integrated graphics cause memory is taken from the system to be used as vmemory.

get 2gb. of memory on any vista computer

it rather is a stability component and relies upon what you elect. a pc is crucial gadget, yet a pc isnt as reliable. once you're seeking to clutter with video and sound courses or something inventive/musical then a Mac is greater helpful than a abode windows pc. A Macs different key benefit is there are a loss of viruses for them so they are unlikely to get contaminated A abode windows pc is defiantly greater helpful for gaming by potential of a few distance for overall performance and high quality, however laptops distinctly gaming laptops are sluggish. whilst you're purely surfing the internet I advise getting as much less high priced as achievable a pc. once you're seeking to do programming and coding for website layout and such, a Mac promises some reward a abode windows pc does not. i haven't regarded at Linux very plenty yet basically hear good issues different than I hear its perplexing to apply I choose abode windows, yet there's a great debate over that's greater helpful.
