If you do find a few old people who seem to be pretending to be deaf, they are not out to annoy other people. Believe it or not, most times they do it out of love.

How's that again? Well, find out when you get older, or you can give a good guess now itself. It is indeed a sad thing if you find an elderly person pretending so with you - reflect on yourself, and why he/she is doing so to you.

Love the elderly, love them. They loved you, when you were younger.

I am a grandmother of three boys, and BELIEVE ME, no one can have selective hearing like a young boy does!!

I wanted to be mad at you for generalizing your observations. But I decided to get to know you a bit, and went to look at some of your answers to previous questions. I actually find you quite normal, a bit smart-mouthed at times (especially with authority figures) but a mother of four, who is trying to raise her own 14 year old son responsibly.

So I have come to the conclusion that your problem with authority figures is actually a problem with OLDER authority figures--specifically seniors.

Please try to be aware that we are on this forum to have a good time, just like you. We haven't gone out of our way to make your day just a little bit lousy, so why should you want to do that to us?

And making generalizations about a whole group from the actions of a few only show how ignorant we ourselves are. I come to informed conclusions after studying my subject. Can you say the same?

I'm already old. I don't pretend to be deaf, I just ignore a great many stupid things said by younger people who think they know something, but actually don't.

What is it with you,you seem to have this fascination with being "old" or slagging off the senior people.
I think that there is deffinatelly wrong with you and if you carry on trolling on this site then one day you will get so many violation warnings that you will be thrown off ,but then ,you have probably been thrown off before.
When you grow up will you still be as annoying as you are now i wonder?

They do this to make younger people think that they are not capable of things like babysitting. They also pretend to forget things so that they are not asked to do many favours.
Basically, they are saying..."Get on with it and leave me in peace"

Yes, I will also bore people to tears with stories of how things used to be so much better back in my day and yell at kids to get off of my lawn.

I won't do that as I know how much it grates when 'the selective deafness' is inflicted on me

I don't pretend. I am deaf in one ear.
