Going from a 6600gt to 8800gt is a huge step up, problems are power usage and possibly motherboard.

6600 could be either AGP or PCIx. If you are PCI-x no worries, if AGP then no chance.

Power supply : You are going to need a beefy power supply and good cooling as the 3500AMD sucks back the juice and the 8800 is a huge power hog.

If it fits on your motherboard, you can provide it the electricity it needs from your PSU and keep it cool you won't be disappointed. Also, if you want to watch HD-DVD's the 8800 will take all the load off the main processor so it will run flawlessly :)

PS: just got your email.

A 500W power supply could be cutting it close. Your motherboard has SLI which means you have PCIx. 8800GTS is slower than 8800GTX but even the slower one will be 4-5x faster than the one you have (according to 3dMark06 benchmarks)..

Depending on your needs an 8600GT may be a suitable choice. Still about 2-3x faster than your card and it uses less energy (so power supply is less of a problem) plus it is cheaper too.
