Everyone is right. Hal Lanier is also the first NL player to hit a grand slam home run in the World Series, with the 1962 San Francisco Giants. He was not a very good coach, alas, and was let go for costing the St. Louis Cardinals a run by helping a player up who'd fallen between third and home (against the rules).

He managed the Houston Astros in 1986. Before that was a shortstop, played for St. Louis, and later the Yankees.

Player from the 60's was thought to be pretty good, but got beaned and developed epilepsy so his career was cut short. Did coach 3rd base for the 82 world champ cardinals.
