Sorry to sound so harsh but surely it crossed ur mind at some time?
Maybe something happened to maddie when they were in the bar and it has been covered up maybe a horrible accident that happened maddie and the parents paniced because they werent there
Its just a question no need to slag me off for this
My reasoning 4 this is because they dont seem to be doing much searching for her , there just intrested in fund raising maybe they know more than there letting on??

I said a while ago (under a different user name!) that there is something very fishy going on here. The McCanns are very defensive if someone says anything they don't like for example, if they are questioned about leaving their children in the first place. Gerry is a complete control freak - watch him during press conferences, he literally won't let Kate speak - is he scared she will say something she shouldn't. Kate herself looks like she has been drugged or something or, just a complete empty cold fish with absolutely no emotion at all. They were very quick to immerse themselves in "team McCann", taking tours of countries etc etc - making it almost impossible for anyone to criticise them. Why have they not returned to the UK - police questioning and our social services perhaps? They continue to leave their remaining children with carers - something which beggars belief. This couple are calculating, cold and arrogant. They have lied to the police and then blamed them for not acting fast enough. Gerry thinks that leaving children on their own whilst you go off to stuff your cake hole is absolutely normal. Mark my words, they have had something to do with this. Poor Maddy - that girl has possibly paid with her life for her parents absolute criminal behaviour.

I think the police will be keeping that question in mind - they have be open to all possibilities. There's no clear evidence that the child was abducted but it seems the most likely explanation to go on. Either she was 'snatched from her bed' as the media put it or, equally likely in my view, she wandered out on her own looking for her parents and fell victim to an opportunist kidnapper. But there are other possibilities. I'm sure the police will have considered them and even if they've effectively ruled them out the questions will still be there in the background.
I don't know what to make of the Mccanns. There's something not right - leaving the children unsupervised in the first place, the conflicting stories about when or if the children were checked, a response from the mother, "they've taken her" , which if it's true seems rather odd, and conflicting stories about whether there was a forced entry. Add to this the whole Team McCann publicity machine and the battery of lawyers and the questions just won't go away.
From the way they're behaving it looks to me as if they either know for certain that Madeleine is alive or know for certain that she isn't. But that's just an impression. Time will tell.

It is not even a strange scenario let alone question. Some deranged people do all manner of odd things, like leave their kids alone at night in foreign countries.
There is nothing straight forward with the McCanns. As Dave says, do we know if this was a genuine abduction, Maddy wandering off, an accident the McCanns are covering up, who knows.
What we do know is we know the McCanns are acting odd, so odd you will never have recalled anything like this will you? No. And it's way OTT. No one sets up a PLC when their child goes missing! You get a long stick and a posse and get searching like Kevin Wells did for Holly.
In Soham, Maxine Carr would talk about the girls in the past tense before anyone knew they were dead, here we have the McCanns setting up events well in advance of the possible finding of Maddy. It's that which does not ring true with me. They know something we don't, it's written all over Kate's face, sworn as she is to keep schtum.

Your very brave asking the question but I do think your question voices a lot of peoples thoughts on the subject
Its all too weird for words and one of Shakespeare quotes has been in my mind from day one . . .
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks"
Everything they are doing is taking attention off the fact that they left 3 young children alone for nights on end - in fact they flippantly deny they have done anything wrong and then change the subject very quickly
I don't know...and yes your right about the fund raising and global branding...that's my point I think they are diverting attention from the WHOLE facts
Another thing I wonder too is if they have actually been reported to Social Services??? If not then why?
If it was done back home those kids would be on the 'at risk' register and possibly put into care
Why hasn't this been done or is this REALLY why the Mc Canns don't want to come home just yet?

How can they ask the youngster to be courageous whilst god is acquainted with what's occurring to her. I choose they had advised madeleine that they regretted leaving her and her brother and sister on my own for the finished of the holiday. i myself do think of that the McCanns could be grateful that basically one baby went lacking that evening for an abductor would have taken all 3 he had the time to. My innovations are with Madeleine i think so sorry for that little lady. yet my thoughts of blame are moving lower back in direction of Robert Murat, he became into there observing and observed each little thing that became into occurring. happy Christmas Madeleine everywhere you're.

A very brave question!
There are some strange points for me.
Why did Gerry first give in to local complaints, and hire a babysitter, only to cancel one hour before they went out?
Why did the parents turn down a free baby-monitor? (there had been a problem with the kids crying)
Why did 22 people enter the child's bedroom to search? This contaminated any possible DNA evidence.
Why, if Kate thought Madeleine had been abducted (They've taken her!) did the parents not insist on calling the Police immediately?
Why was it left to the complex Manager to call the Police ?(because HE was worried).
And of course the very dramatic (TOO Dramatic?) "They've taken her" - (Already mentioned above)
Why were three lawyers (£500 per hour) engaged less than 48 hours after Madeleine was abducted?
Why have the Mccann version of that night changed so many times? We checked every hour, we checked every 30 minutes, to we checked every "few" minutes.
Why are the Parents able to plan so far ahead, like employing a campaign manager, a family spokesperson etc?
Surely Madeleine could be found at any moment?
Who was the last independent witness to see Madeleine? Was it the people employed at the creche?
Of course none of this proves any kind of guilt, but they are questions i would like to see answered.
Of course one must suppose that the Police have cleared the parents of any possible complicity.

This is what a lot of us on here have been saying for weeks. The stories and lies just don't add up and they seem to be treating this whole charade as a way of swanning around the world and adding more money to their fund. When the UK police (not the Muppets in Portugal !) and social services have had the chance to question these two (when they decide to return home) then we sceptics on Ya will have a chance of being convinced they know nothing about the child's disappearance. A lie detector would also be a good idea too.
Also, I am not convinced they have as much money in the bank as we all think. Gerry was out of work for 3 years and they have a £600,000 mortgage around their necks so.........

No I don't think thay did it, I don't want to speculate, just look at the facts, and unfortunately we know that they speak for themselves, they are responsible for this dreadful incident.
As for the searching where would they start? What could they do differently to the police?
I don't particuarly feel comfortable with what thay are doing, but I cannot read their thoughts and feel what they are feeling, but I do know that people react differently to others. It will be some time, if ever that the full facts, and hopefully a good outcome, will be known.
My thoughts to all missing children and parents of missing children. I pray for you all.

I think it is only reasonable to come to this conclusion, however I think the police would have found some evidence of this by now, most of these types of cases, the immediate family are the ones the police talk to first, just look at the case of the missing pregnant mom, everyone a suspect, one by one they must be ruled out.

to be honest am bored of hearing about it now.
I do not think they did it, but think its there fault that she is missing for leaving there 3 children alone in the apartment, I do think that people should give them a break though think what they must be going through how would you feel i that was your child missing, and you saying they don't seem to be doing much searching there is not much they can do with out any leads also they have 2 other children to care for

I have to admit, I do not know them personally and cannot even begin to read their minds.....but, I am suprised they have not had the other kids taken from them and put in foster care.
They couldn't get a babysitter while they were at dinner? They didn't have an au pair?
My first suspicion was that the parents had something to do with it - for whatever reason...........and to see so many people thinking along the same lines.......well....
