well you need to have a computer,if you want to pay for you song its easy just connect buy and sync but if you want freee ones get limewire or morpheus(recomended cause you dont get bugs n viruses) then download the songs you want if you have limewire save your playlist somewhere on your computer where you can find it like in my documents then go to itunes and import using the file tab find your playlist import it and you may want to rename your songs , if you have morpheus then go to morpheus and your downloads right clich you will see itune you can import all files and just selected files do that then go to itunes find your song rename it sync to your ipod and enjoy

If money is a problem, you can work around that. Every birthday or Christmas, you can ask for itunes cards. Many kids use a free download service but it's so full of junk that it will eventually break your computer. However, you can get free podcasts with great music as long as you are willing to have the newest songs from un-signed artists. If you must have the songs that the record companies have decided kids want to listen to, then I'm afraid you'll have to pay the 99 cents.

First, download the free itunes program from http://www.apple.com/itunes/.

Every time you launch the program on your computer, it will update your podcasts or you can click on the Apple store to buy new songs and subscribe to new podcasts. Just look on the bottom of the page where it says "buy music now" and it will launch itself into your itunes program. Then you just choose your podcastss or songs, plug your ipod into the computer and it will synchronize. Make sure you leave the ipod plugged in for a while to re-charge the battery.

Here are some free podcasts I recommend:

Homegrown Mix, urban and hip hop from the U.K.

Radio 1's Best of Unsigned, also from the U.K.

Anything from Indiefeed, U.S. music that's new and independent

Mad Decent Worldwide radio, stuff chosen by kids
