A marriage solemnised with Hindu Rites can be dissolved by a decree of divorce by competent court under whose jurisdiction the parties to the marriage are residing. Specific grounds, as contained in Hindu Marriage Act, have to be invoked in the petition seeking divorce, upon receipt of which the Court may issue notice to the other party in the matter. If both parties to the marriage agree, divorce can be obtained by mutual consent. In the absence of details relating to grounds on which a decree of divorce is being prayed for, it is not possible to comment more.
