Science, the study and the expression of it, requires other subject matter expertise in order to do it well. You must know mathematics in order to formulate equations when possible and you need to know language in order to express to others things that might not lend themselves to mathematical equations (like explaining the steps you took to get your results so that others can do them also)...

You might also need Art.. to draw pictures.. or Photography to take pictures...

You might need some woodworking or metalworking to build an apparatus (though most good scientists can do this, many have machinists to do the work for them)...

You may also need different Sciences to do you study.. Physics, chemistry, biology, etc. depending upon what you are studying...

Right now it is possible for some people to get their Master's or Doctorate Degree for FREE in some subjects because the Government is trying to get Mathematicians into subjects such as Biology or Medicine.. (look up IGERT or go to http://www.igert.org/ )

When you need to use an equation to figure out the force of a bullet coming out of a gun you are using math and science at the same time. That is intediciplinary.
