Apes share many human traits. Humans for the most part are either left or right handed. Do apes share this trait also, or any other animal for that matter?

Actually they do. Next time you visit a zoo take a moment to sit and watch the primates. The most simple way to see it is when they are eating... for example food will always go to one hand more than the other.

As far as other animals it would really only apply to animals that use "hands" for things other than walking/running. Racoons for example.
