If you decide to switch plans, be careful they don't charge a cancellation fee of your old plan. Most companies will allow you to upgrade your service plan with no additional cost (they get more money in the long run anyway). I know that Verizon has an unlimited plan for texting. I was with cingular, but switched to Verizon because of better coverage area and received more options with my plan, such as unlimited texting. Best of luck

Are you staying with Cingular that is part one of the question. See what plans they have. Also if you are two years with the company, you can get a free or discounted phone.
I have Sprint and for $5 you can have unlimited texting with the fair and reasonable plan.
Go to the web pages of the cell companies you think you want to consider and do an assessment of the rate plans.
