what is the purpose of an electric skillet?

Many people like to be able to control the temps when cooking and this skillet has a thermostat. Ideal for apartments with no stove. Many use it for keeping things warm while finishing off meals on the main stove.

THE REAL PURPOSE IM NOT SURE BUT THEY ARE NICE TO USE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO CLEAN OVEN OR TOP OF OVEN JUST THROW THAT IN THE SINK AND DONE..

don't know if it's the MAIN purpose or not but they are convenient and can travel with you, i.e. motels, campgrounds with electricity , etc.
