What should be done about Peadophiles?

What are you views.
IS being locked up enough?

What about ones that have done it far to many times, even after they have served their 'time'?

Should there be a death sentence?

Just curiouse to what other people think that's all.

I think they should have a death penaty but suffer a horrible death!

they are sick individuals wich dont deserve to live.

i say this becouse my mums m8t was raped by her own father and she has been scarred for life.
she was 7 when it happend till she was 22 and stood up 4 herself. shes a wreck even today all beacouse of that sick excuse for a man.

They should be sterilized, and put in prison for life with no parole.

This is a difficult one. Pedophilia is in the mind, a desire to have sex with a child is a sickness. Children must be protected, yes, that is a given, but I'm wondering if Medieval techniques of punishment, as described here, are the answer in a civilized society? I have read that present treatments have not worked in the long term. Perhaps among the emerging technologies there shall emerge a way to keep our children safe and also not drift back to the 17th century.

There are arguments that Capitol Punishment should be instated to cover Pedophile convictions.

In all cases the crime must fit the punishment. I for one consider Pedophilia a heinous crime. We must consider that a heinous crime carries a life sentences not a Capitol Punishment. All heinous crimes must then be reevaluated to see if they meet the same qualifications that is being purposed for adding Pedophilia Convictions to the list of Capitol Punishment crimes.

Once that is done those crimes that meet the new standard should also be added to Capitol Punishment Crimes.

If we were to carry this kind of logical approach to finding all crimes that warrant Capitol Punishment then we must look to the original source for our moral code. And that is What ???

The Bible. Are we willing to as a society to go on a Bible driven witch hunt for every single crime described there in for Capitol Punishment Crimes?

"But No!!" Screams society. "We are a mature caring society we can treat people we can help them!!!"

This would be a monstrous step backwards for society. No manner how much the victim may suffer the acts committed can ever be changed. The victim should be given any resources necessary to "recover" from the ordeal; including teaching the person forgiveness.

But the Pedophile on the other hand should be confined for the rest of his life; BUT, forced to be a productive person. What ever skills what ever abilities should be tapped to repay society for his isolation for our society.

In the Bible they were call cities of sanctuary. The cities were established to provide 7 years of isolation from the judgment prescribed in the Mosaic Laws. If it was a capitol crime then it was 7 times 7 years of confinement before they could be expected to be released; a life sentence back then. To make something like this work we as a society would have to completely revamp our way of thinking about crimes and punishments.
Personally I think it could work.

As for making Pedophilia a Capitol Punishment Crime think long and hard, long and hard, on the direction you are being lead by self interest religious leaders who wish to place even more control over your lives than they all ready have.

And that control they have is another entire subject that involves the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

If it CAN be proved, then yes, straight out the door and a bullet at the back of the head, short and sharp.

My concern, is that in the past TOO MANY mistakes have been made in the past, for various reasons.

I personally, if catching a paedophile about to 'act' would have no qualms about permanently removing either HIM or HER from society in the most unpleasant way possible, in the hopes that a deathbed confession would reveal more of their net-work to be passed on to the correct authorities, regretting that their victim may witness their demise. No feelings of guilt, nothing. However as I've stated I would have to have unshakable proof of their guilt..

the death penalty is the last resort and because the law is not infallible, you should not go down this route. could you live with the guilt of a dead persons blood on your hands if the conviction turned out to be wrong ?

so, what other options do you have ?

not many unfortunately. but locking them up on an individual basis, allowing no communication with anybody. to be allowed nothing but a cell, an uncomfortable bed, a toilet & a sink.....until they die.

the only other option which i think should be given to them, is the option to commit suicide.

i don't agree with allowing anyone who has raped, abused or even murdered, children or anyone of any age - out after "time-served".
time served must be that they forfeit the remainder of their freedom.

eventually people will realise that nothing is worth given up their own freedom & i'm sure this would help.

I think it really depends on what they do. Not all peadophiles are alike but I am certain an advocate in most cases for the harshest punishments for the acts they commit. There is nothing worse than an adult who prey upon the weakest and most important people in our society - our children (because they are our future). I would certainly advocate for the death penalty for anyone who preys upon and kills a child. They are beyound any value to society that their redemption would have meaning in this life - let them find it in the next.

They are certainly the sort of people none of us want near our families but our government does not really listen to any of the public views.....that's wrong they do listen but they don't really care where they put them when they have served time for their unforgivable crimes.....punishments do not fit the crimes so people re offend knowing that they can handle serving time....i say bring back the death sentence for paedophiles and also up the punishments for other serious crimes

What about putting them in an isolated colony? There are leper colonies but in this case it would be isolation for convicted pedophiles in a colony where they have to sustain their own existence through hard work and the pay that they earn goes directly into a fund for the victim.

Their goolies should be removed sent to the army trained and then shipped off to Ira ck and put on point duty for every patrol sent out into the hottest part of that war Why kill them at least they could die being of some use What say you.

Firstly they should be rendered totally incapable of having children (male or female). Then they should go through years of punishment including being penetrated with a foreign body so they can feel exactly what their victims did. Then they should live a life of hell as their victims do every day for the rest of their poor lives.
