I reckon confidence ends when one is frightened of making a "mistake" or being seen to make one. Arrogance begins when one acts as though one cannot make one. But in my experience, arrogance often conceals great inner uncertainty and unconfronted fear of failure. So it's very vulnerable, and when pricked collapses into alarm and mumbles. Most of us have a limited range of repetitive behaviour we've learned to use for self-defence or advancement (lies, cheating, greed, bullying, etc). The arrogant, like the rest, can easily be lured to use their trick inappropriately and "die on their own sword". I used to enjoy helping them do that when I worked for a living. I regarded it as a public duty - and it served me well, too.

A "light handed" way of putting this, arrogance is when one gets all "puffed up" about themselves. Confidence is a trait that involves a conviction of one's own worth, or an UNSELFCONSCIOUS certainty of succeeding , unhampered by doubt, hesitation or fear. It's a general optimism concerning one's own capacities. But, aha, arrogance describes the character of persons who are possessed of an exaggerated pride. Overbearing, domineering, imperious. I don't believe that true confidence ever crosses the line into arrogance. On the contrary, people WITHOUT confidence usually "behave" in an arrogant way. They're easy to spot, & while they have so little self esteem, it's difficult to have any empathy for them. So, as far as I'm concerned, there's no "end" to confidence, nor is there a "beginning" to arrogance (in the context in which I believe you've asked this).

Good question! Confidence is when you believe in your abilities, arrogance when you think you are the only one that can do it right! There is a difference. Confidence is extremely attractive and rewarding. Arrogance is an attitude when you feel your better than others - that's not rewarding at all!

Of course its a fuzzy boundary but I think arrogance begins when we forget about our audience, our fellow human beings and are motivated only by selfishness and a desire to prove ourselves to be better than others.
Confidence allows us to give in and see another's point of view without losing our own identity, arrogance doesn't allow that.
Confidence allows us to subdue our fears but arrogance is just a facade, a shallow disguise.
Confidence engenders trust but arrogance fear.
Confidence helps to subdue the ego, but arrogance is a symptom of over-inflation.
'Confidence breeds confidence but watch out for the pr*ck.'
(p.s. - I can't believe that the thought police have banned the word pr*ck - its a perfectly normal word, as in 'pin pr*ck' - its seems that the people who think that words like that should be banned aren't very confident. What a collossal shame!)

You don't have to tell people that you are confident, they can see it. When you start telling them how confident you are, thats where arrogance begins.

To be confident is to relax in a chair, knowing it has four legs and is well built. To be arrogant is to teeter about, standing on one leg.
Only one can be sustained without effort.

confidence ends by losing faith in yourself.
Arrogance begins with a lack of listening, and lack of sensitivity to any situation.
