and why not 5th of Behetoven as European anthem ?
You as well as Poland, Deutch ?
What to think about ? That you have a so insignificant history to be terrified to be darkened near a different flag ?
What a shame!

Why should the UK fly the European flag ? Our country is the UK not Europe. Wouldnt it make us look stupid :)

Quite simply because I am British and proud to be so and I want to see my national flag flying in my country. Britain is not Europe but an island surrounded by a sea which Shakespeare said was 'a moat defensive to a house against the envy of less happier lands'. I recall the Punch cartoon which showed a newspaper billboard at a very foggy Dover Harbour (in the days before the Channel Tunnel) which simply read: Fog in the Channel, Continent isolated.

Rule Britannia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what has the EU ever done for Britain. The pound is the best currency in the world at the moment why would we want to throw that away for one of the worst currencies in the world. Countries should govern themselves thats what makes them countries.

A better idea would be for EUROPE to adopt the POUND!!

we can fly the euro flag but it means so little and has such insignificance in the UK that they'd be little point, oh and britain has a rich history.

There is a feeling to hang on to Britishness and not jump aboard the Euro ship. I don't care personally. Remember that many people and many opinions count in a country. A bit of an agressive question really - and you wonder why people may be reluctant to become and EU state|?! Also, the EU flag already flies beside the Union Jack or Welsh/Scottish flags in many UK Cities.

We have been invaded over the centuries by our fellow Europeans: the Romans, the Anglo Saxons, the Danes, the Norman French and, now, the Eastern Europeans. But we're not going to capitulate as easily as that! You can keep your European flag, thank you!
"Stringia moci a coorte
Siam pronti alla morte..."
Now where did I hear those words before...?

The E.U. anthem is Beethoven's symphony Number 9 Choral.

I'm in favour of all countries working more closely together. The E.U. is a good idea, but it needs a better image in the U.K.

One European flag for all countries in the continent could not be achieved because of the many differences in culture, economy and religion. When it comes to trade, the countries could not even have one European economy because many countries want to stick to their systems.

We are not run by the Mafioso, El sole a mio ice cream vendors, and pizza eaters and fat opera singers, who only sing to be heard because of all the loud mouth people trying to tell the rest of the world how to live and what to do, shove your flag idea and anthem up your Ferrari exhaust , it might help them catch our Lewis up in a British car driven by a British driver where you see a marvellous flag put up and a anthem that is worth listening to.

why so?
Brits do not want to be part of European Union. They joined just to keep peace with others. They do not even use Euro as monetary unit.
And EU is not USA. Fundamentally different. The origin of EU has started as economical and social friendship to avoid another world war. It's not a real union.

Yep! Whatever - we could then have Italian tanks - you know the one's - in war they go backwards etc etc

We could have the Tweenies as a European Standard.

Heck we could even all drive Fiat's - now that would be fun!!!

Our FLAG is ours - you want a different one - go ahead

More important than all of that garbage you spout is the FACT that we don't want to be part of the European Union - it is full of corrupt bureaucrats and poor (so they say) nations that contribute NAFF ALL and take MILLIONS of our pounds to squander down the Euro Toilets.
