Yes, I'm about a week late in my menstrual cycle. I'm not sexually active, and I had a cold about a week or two ago. I have had considerable stress; friends moving away, relationship issues, finals, etc. Although, my mother and friends teased me about being pregnant, and I tend t ojump to really bad conclusions in a panic, and this is one of them. Any reason that my period might be late and anything to calm a frantic mind?

Stress, hormones, not eating enough, not drinking enough, your cold that you had, swimming a lot...there are SOOO many different reasons why your period can come later. First, you're not pregnant so there is no reason to stress as bad as you are. Unless you have ever stressed out about your period being late because you think your pregnant, then you are just fine.

I think it's because of your nerves and the stress. Stress has a big play in why you period is late. Your period is linked to you emotions.

Just calm down a little bit...if you want more answers...here is a website that can help http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/menstruation/a/lateperiod.htm . Hope this helps.

When I was going through a really nasty divorce mine stopped for 8 months!! Stress and lack of food or over exercising can all cause a period to stop. I don't think it causes any lasting damage, but I've not had any more kids as I didn't want to, so I'm not sure?

Stress will have an effect on a period. Everybody misses a period every once in a while. Dont worry.

Stress - mental or physical - can delay your period or cause you to skip it altogether for a month. I wouldn't worry until next month - if you skip 2 months in a row, maybe you should call your dr.

Stress, recent or accumulative physical duress.

Your recent health issues added to your emotional strain as of late are prime factors for it being late.
