If it's a branded computer, go to the manufacturer's website and look for drivers for your computer.

Most of the integrated sound cards are Realtek. Try Realtek AC'97 Audio Codecs and see if it works. If not, it won't hurt anything.

When you formatted your HDD, you erased everything, including ALL drivers. After a fresh installation of the OS you should immediately install the motherboard chipset drivers. It is usually in the CD that comes w/ the PC. If you have onboard VGA, sound, LAN and modem, their drivers should also be in that CD. Next to install are drivers of devices that you put on the PCI and USB slots. Only then should you load your favorite softwares.

ALWAYS worked for me flawlessly in my laptops and desktops.

Your PC should have come with a driver CD. Install the CHIPSET drivers before you install any other drivers then install the remaining ones ie. vidcard, sound, USB etc etc.

If you do not have a driiver CD, go the the website of the PC manufacturer and download all the latest tested (non-beta)drivers listed for your system and then load in the order listed above.

Your motherboard chipset controls the whole operation of your PC this is why you should load them before loading any other drivers.

formatting does not void the warranty unless you have a recovery partition and you destroy it by formatting with a disc
go to the manufacturers website and download the drivers
