Well, I will tell you that it is a natural thing to feel anger when someone does this, but the anger is a secondary emotion that follows the fear that has preceded it. Usually when someone does this, there is an immediate reaction of fear, because you have experienced a close call, near accident incident, which causes the adrenaline to flood your body. After the incident, and you realize you are okay, you become angry with the person responsible for your sudden fear of getting hurt - namely the driver of the vehicle involved.
However, let me state that although it is natural to feel anger, we can also choose how we will physically react. Shouting, honking, flaring up, blinking our lights, cursing, etc. do not have to be additional responses. One can first be thankful that there was no accident, and thankful that everything is still okay. Secondly, we can take the higher road by depersonalizing the event, meaning that most assuredly the driver of the other vehicle did not cut you off with the intention of angering you. In other words, they were not singling you out just because they wanted to make you angry.
Sometimes when we are driving, we ourselves do not always make correct judgements, and we may mistakenly pull out in front of someone, or swerve in front of someone else, follow too closely, stop too quickly, or just not see someone, forcing them to brake suddenly in order to avoid an accident.
You can choose to view the incident as simply an accidental act, that perhaps this person did not realize what they were doing, and that they were not picking you out among all the other drivers, to personally make you angry. Depersonalizing the incident will reduce your anger.
We all know that if we are driving with our emotions, it clouds our judgement, and we don't think clearly, which could put ourselves in further dangerous situations.
Far better it is to pass off the incident as a random, accidental happening, and let it go. There is no need to allow the other driver power over your emotions, and rage on about what they did, fixating on it all day long. Let it go, and continue practicing your safe and defensive driving skills.

Sometimes. I drive a truck and what strikes me is the real lack of knowledge car drivers have about just the plain old facts of trucks.
A truck is bigger and heavier than a car.
People sort of know that, but a lot don't really register what that means.
When a car cuts infront of me last minute, I almost crash into them. I simply can't stop as quickly as they seem to think I can. I have more of this thing called "momentum."
Sometimes I purposely leave more space infront of my truck so that I have room to slow down, but cars will often sneak into that space. They're stupid. One day they'll be rear-ended, and that's going to damage their car and possibly hurt or kill the people inside.
I continually see people do stupid things with their car and think things like "If that guy does that again, he'll end up with the right side of his car dented." Then I look carefully and his car is actually dented on that side. Basically when people get into accidents, they don't learn.
I think it should be much more difficult to get a drivers license. People must be made aware of the common stupid mistakes they make.
Also, almost invariably, when someone does something really stupid while driving, they're talking on the phone. I think that should be made illegal. It's been shown that people are more aware driving when they're drunk than when they're on the phone. At least the rule should be that no phone can be hand-held while driving. It's just way too dangerous and annoying to other drivers and pedestrians.

Yes because obviously I am going with the flow of traffic because I am close enough to the guy in front of me for you to scare the sh*t out of me when you cut over, and of course there is usually no one behind me when I get cut off. It's not a race!!! Plus I have to go against what I know is eco friendly and drive a gas guzzling SUV to feel safe around all of these psychotic drivers (I know I am going to hell for not being "green" but I take care of people after their car accidents.... and I want to be the SUV driver, not the compact car driver)

Not really unless they get really close. I drove professionally for 10 years and you take on a different mindset when you realize that the 4 wheelers are just in a hurry and don't know they are terrible drivers.

Well yeah. But I drive very defensively, and if someone is driving like a fool in my sight, I pull back and keep clear until they pass.
Peace

Yes, but I don't make an issue of it because the other guy may be crazy and go off on me.
