Yes, she's contradicting herself, but to be fair, one must understand that on the 'Top Model' show she's one of the judges and has to act on the fact that the modeling business is a whole 'nother world, if you will. The modeling industry is a tough one and even though women should be themselves, those that choose to follow the modeling industry are going to quickly be bouced off if they don't give any better performance than the ordinary woman. It's a bad thing, but that's how society works. Sad how the media and the modeling industry portray your ideal woman to be perfectly thin and beautiful without much of a physical flaw making the 'real' woman feel she is not as desirable and as perfect as she should be.

No, because in the modeling industry you are judged by your looks. She is preparing them for what the modeling world is like. If you have ever modeled before you would understand. Now that she's not modeling anymore, she can relax and be herself and not worry about a little weight gain. Modeling is very tough and if you don't have thick skin and can't take criticism, those women won't make it. BTW, she is a role model to most young women because of what she does outside of ANTM.

it not all about judging on appearance. It's about handling yourself while you are out scouting for jobs, and how u present yourself as a client of an agency that represents some of the top models of the world. Top Model is for aspiring models, and most of these girls are from towns where exposure may be slim to none, and i think its an opportunity of a life time for any one who would like to see what a models life is like.
tyra's show simply justifies that u dont have to be a top model to feel good about yourself and your flaws. and she also shares some excellent beauty tips. i think she is a great role model, because she speaks with an open mind and heart. she wasnt always america's top model, and she was turned away from many jobs because her boobs, booty, or her forehead was too big. all those agency's now WISH they could say that they discovered TYRA BANKS.

She's contradicting herself by sending mixed messages and not the first model to do this. Cheryl Teigs started a clothing line with elastic waistbands and went on a talk show and made fun of larger women, the very people that she marketed her product for. Models are nothing more than human hangers for clothing designers, but somehow manage to let it go to their heads.

Being a model is all about appearance. It's part of the job. But a person who is not a model doesn't have to conform to some artificial standard set by the fashion industry. A "regular" person can, and should, just be himself or herself.
Tyra Banks isn't contradicting herself. She just understands the difference between the fantasy world of fashion and the real world, and she walks in both.

I think she is just odd. I'm sure she is a very nice person, but she seems to ask her guests leading questions, even seeming to try to provoke things at some times. She says things like "I heard you felt you're fat, how does this make you feel? What kinds of names do people call you?"
I'm not so sure about her contradicting herself, since they are two different types of shows. I don't remember her ever judging someone on something that wasn't relevant to the competition. I just wish she wouldn't try so hard on her talk show. Feels forced sometimes. Anyone agree?

nicely i for my area like Tyra yet I comprehend what you're asserting yet there's a extensive difference between posing for a valid company or teach or regardless of you prefer to call it then some random guy in a hotel room who claims to be a photographer like on that teach she had did and those women in simple terms had no class in any respect.

I would have to agree with you on that point. I'll admit I watch topmodel for entertainment but I feel that Tyra has become more over the top and annoying over the past couple seasons.
