Not a good idea. Even Symantec states as much.

having more than one antivirus in your system will make a conflict between the two programs, each program won't be able to do it's job as well as it should be.
You should have one good antivirus and a firewall installed to insure security on your pc.
AVG is just good as free antivirus but always miss things,I would recommend using a better decent one like NOD32 or f-secure.
From a recent test at www.virus.gr, the top 25 anti-virus programs, in virus detection rates "in the wild".
(free programs are noted in ()s.)
1. Kaspersky version 6.0.0.303 - 99.62%

Good question.
AVG missed a lot of viruses, I would not use it myself because of this - i would use AVS far better detection & removal rate than AVG;
http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/index.adp
It your going to stick with AVG then you need to do online scans once a week to pick up on what AVG is missing - they are free & will remove what AVG wont:
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan?
It is not recommended to run more than one AV but online scans are OK.

Do not instal more then 1 antivirus program on your computer, if you are not happy with your current one then you must delete all traces of it from your system before instaling a new one, antispyware on the other hand, you can have as many as you require without any problems.

Yah, it will surely make ur Pc to hang out.
Never Run 2 antivirus systems in a Os.
It may cause harm to system Files or Dll Files, which are related to security process.
So, Use only one Antivirus system. Go for a good one.
Have a Nice Day, bye !!!

Bad idea.
AVG is a good software that many Internet Service Providers provide free of charge for the user subscribing to there service. You can however update and upgrade these for a fee.
But for general home use this one is good and safe.
Now when you have let's say McAfee Internet Suite and you also have Symantic's Norton's Internet Security Suite as well I will venture to say within 2 days your computer will either crash or lock up. Many of these just simply do not play well together.

2 antivirus classes will combat one yet another and not be well matched. you could not deploy the extra recent version of Norton devoid of first uninstalling the two the old Norton version AND the McAfee which grow to be probably production unit put in on your gadget. Do the two uninstalls, then the maximum recent version of Norton which you paid for will deploy certainly.

believe me I have used AVG for 3 years and it don't miss a thing. you are well protected with it alone and yes multiple A/V's will conflict causing bad problems and posssible infetion due to them possibly not functioning to their full potential.
