Did you get any type of warranty when you bought the unit? Some offer a no-fault warranty. If you take the cable from a standard monitor and plug it into the connector on the back of the laptop (sometimes hidden by a drop down door) it should work. You may need to hold the blue 'fn' key at the bottom of the laptop keyboard and press the function key that has a blue display shown on it. This will activate the signal to the external connector.

2 things....first if its only 6 weeks old you may be able to get an rma for the laptop or at least the screen to be replaced.....secondly, t hook it up to an external monitor, if you look on the back there should be a plug with a bunch of little holes and it'll be a rectangular type shape (just like the monitor plug on your PC). This is the external monitor plug, now you may have to reboot or get into the display properties to use that plug and get your desktop to show up on the external monitor or at least use a function key to turn off the built-in and turn on the external. Depends on the model as to what exactly you need to do but that's the gist.

Check with the manufacturer if the warranty covers the damage, if not, that's too bad. You can still connect a monitor to your laptop though, match the plug of the monitor with the socket in the back of the laptop.

At the back of your laptop there should be a monitor adapter (slot were your monitor plugs into, like into your computer) plug your pc monitor into there and then when you start up your laptop and you're on the desktop Press and hold the ALT key then press the key with a picture of a window on it at the top of your laptop keys!

2 things
1st no doubt you are still in warntee, sometimes if you can prove to them that this was not done by mishandling or abuse you might get lucky and they will fix it.
2nd It depends on the make and model of computer some will allow this funtion while others do not. If you are not technically sharp you will probably need to find out from a tech rep of your brand of computer.

all you need to do is plug it in to the serial port on the back of the computer. then right click on the good area of the laptop screen and try to select monitor #2 as your primary monitor and click apply, and the monitor will work.

Your laptop should still be under warranty. Get it fixed.
