p37ry: No, it's "sematary." That's how it's spelled in the book and the movie, because the sign at the cemetery was painted by young kids who couldn't spell cemetery.

I really don't like the movie, but I think the scariest scene is by far the ankle-slicing scene. Ech. Freaks me out.

I'm only about half way through the book, but so far my favorite scene has been the first time Louis goes to the Micmac burying ground, to bury Church. I think it was very well-written (not that anything by King is poorly-written), and the situation was pretty creepy. I've walked through the wilderness at night and wondered what might be out there in the trees.
The part when Pascow dies gave me the chills, too. More what he says than the gore.

The sister flashback sequence was disturbing. I liked the part right before the kid gets killed (or was it a cat..its been so long since I've seen it) because the Ramones more are playing in the background during that scene.

By the way for the other know-it-all who corrected you,
it is Sematary, at least for this movie.

Best scene from the novel, in my opinion, is after Gage is killed, and Judd talks to Lewis and tells him he knows what he is thinking, and that he shouldn't do it. I think that's when he tells the story of the guy whose son came back from the war, and was buried up there, and came back changed.

The best scene from the movie, in my opinion, is the whole end, starting when Judd wakes up and sees the little muddy footprints on the porch, and knows Gage is in the house. I like that, all the way through to when Lewis is sitting in the kitchen, waiting...

(Actually, it's one of my favorite King novels, and also probably my favorite film adaptation of any of his books.)

The film always grossed me out when Cade sliced Hermann Munster's achilles with the scalpel.

That's "Cemetary".

And in my opinion, in the movie it was the achilles heel slice from under the bed.

Had me jumping every time I was standing near a bed for weeks.
