I remember as a kid watching one of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, I was alone downstairs at night and it was the scene where the little red tricycle rolls into the hospital room trailing blood, that freaked me out!
I then completely forgot about the film for years and watched it when I was much older and just found it rather hilarious and to think I was actually freaked out about it :D
Also have seen the Alien Abduction: The Mcpherson tape.
Its supposed to be a "real" home taping of the Mcpherson family being invaded and abducted by aliens. Its very strange, I also watched this when I was young and it did indeed freak me out, its kind of like the Blair Witch Project although its about alien abduction. Its worth a look, even if its quite rediculous or maybe I'm just too much of a skeptic to believe that this was nothing more than another hoax.

The movie that even now gives me the heeby jeebies is Salems Lot! I know by todays standards it will be pretty tame to some of you, but I used to do a lot of night duties where I was nurse in charge and often on my own (not being allowed a sleep break) and when things were quiet, and the wind outside perhaps made a tree brush against the window, I can still hear that voice saying 'open the window, open the window Mark'!!! with that guy floating outside.

Schindler's List: the fact that people could truly believe other peoples were Untermensch (sub-human), and attempt to exterminate them like we would termites, rats or Black widows is terrifying; that some people deny it happened, while calling for pretty much the same thing to happen again is even more so.

Poltergeist 1 and 2 are two of my favorite movies as well... They are Both, indeed, very 'scary' and quite entertaining... and then there is "The POLTERGEIST Curse"... ie, BOTH of the young actresses in these films DIED 'Prematurely'... and there were, reportedly, many strange occurences during filming...
For "GOD SAKE" don't watch these movies on your own.
Other wise you may not live to tell the storey..............
