Sly and Robbie laid the beats for a vast majority of early Jamaican artists, from Dancehall on, so check into them. also check out Burning Spear, Toots & the Maytals, Culture, the Itals... Most of this is Dancehall and Roots Reggae. Learn about the various forms, decide what you like, and go from there. You'll find that reggae is huge. Cheers!

bob marley of course! that answer pretty much covers it. if you want more modern than sublime has quite a reggae feel to it, and ska is close too. sorry those werent reggae artists, but they are similar styles if you like that type of music.
