P.S. If you've got a million burp cloths and things, pack them away. You only need about 10 or 12 of these, because you MUST wash them in a timely manner -- otherwise, they get stinky. When you throw some away, then get out some more. Only unpack what you will need for two days. This goes for pacifiers, bottles, cloth diapers and all those baby things (except clothing). You will be doing a lot of laundry the first three months! Things get easier after the first 100 days, though, so don't worry.
If you have way too much, you might think about giving some to charity.
(ORIGINAL POST BEGINS) It's great that you are going through this now, because after the baby comes, you will have no time to re-organize your house.
Set a specific goal for each day this week, and work only on that during the day -- don't let yourself get nuts, or overtired.
You need to clean out a cabinet for baby stuff in the kitchen. Yep, if you are bottle-feeding, you will need a whole cabinet. And refrigerator space. I cleaned out a cabinet next to our kitchen table where I put bibs, washclothes and other baby-related food items (like a drop cloth for the floor for when s/he starts eating).
Pacifiers seem to follow the baby around -- there are cute clip thingies you can use to keep it on the baby. Find a place near the dishwasher or whereever you plan to sanitize the things.
It helps to have a shelf in your linen closet, or a drawer in her dresser to keep the blankets and stuff. You might have room under the changing table, too.
Just go through your house, bit by bit, and declutter and try and make a "baby cabinet" in each room. You'll be glad you did it now.
Good luck, and have a great delivery!

You can keep a little diaper bag in living room and kitchen with a few of each thing, diapers, baby wipes, burp cloth, bibs, and pacifiers etc. That way you don't have to go to one place in the house each time you need it. Babies, burp up and cry anywhere they want! You can keep bibs in drawer in the kitchen with your dishcloths and dishtowels or pot holders. Or hang them on a hook in the kitchen. You might as well make room in the cabinets for bottles now. If that is where you will keep them, let them already have a home where you know they are when you are sleepy and running on instinct!

I have my son's bibs, socks, shoes, and hats in an over-the-door shoe organizer. It works great, but I recommend a clear one, so you can see all your stuff and know when to do laundry. Also, if you have a closet for your little one, the hanging sweater organizers are perfect for blankies, burpies, and sheets. You could get smaller baskets if you will be nursing, to keep essentials at your various 'nursing stations' around the house - which will save time and keep clutter down.
I never put the bottles in the cabinets. It seems like we're always washing/drying/using them - so I have a wire standing shelf that the formula container and cereal boxes fit underneath. The shelf is next to the sink and has towels lining the top for the bottles to sit on and dry. It works for us - some may not like them sitting out though.
Oh, and in our nursery, we bought a small night stand to sit next to the rocker - it holds pacifiers, thermometers, and grooming tools. It also has room for burpies in one drawer and all those dumb toy instruction books in the bottom drawer. If your little one will be staying in your bedroom for a while, it helps to have a mini baby changing kit in there for middle of the night changes.

Sweetie, slow down, it's going to be okay! I remember going through the same thing right before my daughter was born. It's okay to have all of this done, trust me, you'll be really tired once she's born and you won't have to worry about doing any of those things. For her extra blankets, I would get one of those plastic storage containers and put them in there, I found one that fit under my daughter's crib, so no one could even see it. After sterlizing her nipples and pacifiers you can put them in a little plastic rubbermaid or some other storage container. I used drop-ins for my daughter, but I had one cabinet cleared of for her stuff already. These are just some things I did to make my life easier. Good Luck and get some rest, cause in a few weeks, you'll need it! Congratulations.

don't go crazy! it's a lovely stage! i did similar to yourself with my daughters arrival imminant. i know exactly what you mean! invest in a changing tub but keep in all the bibs and burp cloths and pacifiers, they normally come with different compartments. as for the blankets, to keep them looking all lovely, but not having to pack them out of sight, buy a wide ribbon and parcel them up in a bundle, then put them on display somewhere like in the cot, or crib. it looks tidy and it's practical. invest in some tupperware big enough for the bottles and pacifiers, so you can put them in the cupboards without worrying about having to sterilise them when you bring them out. good luck x

i agree with the previous poster... nesting is great. ive got a 3 month old and NO desire to fold clothes, put them away, do the dishes etc. ive got to force myself- lol.
go ahead and put everything where you'll want it when shes here. you could have her early and you want to be prepared. put the receiving blankets by her other blankets, or the linen closet or her drawers. keep the pacifiers in a small plastic container by her bottles.
good luck and safe delivery!

I know it seems impossible, but try to focus on you right now. Do things that you enjoy. Take long baths, read, enjoy a good dinner ( if you can). Once the baby gets here, ALL of your attention will be focused on them for a very long time, but for now, all you have to look after is you. Pamper yourself now, because it will be a while before you will be able to do it again very soon.
