Mine lasts about 2 weeks as well and yes it is a pretty common thing. I found that taking B Complex helps a lot. Some women take just B6 in a bottle by itself or as part of B Complex. You can find them in the big drugstores like Wal-Mart or at The Vitamin Shoppe. If you don't have a Vitamin Shoppe in your area you can also order at their site.
Also, please talk to your dr about this for additional information and ideas.

when i had a period. it lasted for ten days like yourself. i could not go out the door for the first 2 days of my menstral cycle, it was like the flood gates of hell!!!!! i wore the biggest towel you could get, and i was changing my pad every 5-10 mins...... and had clots in it. and had terrible cramps!!!! I have to ask you. if you,if you get any period type cramps, roundabout mid cycle???? or painful intercourse???/ like a jagging sensation in your vagina???? or any dark brown discharge mid cycle with the cramps, which i mentioned previously???? and lower back pain severe at times????? if you have answered yes to any of these, you sound like you have the symptoms of endometriosis!!!! which i suffered for three years, and got admitted to hospital, i first got treated for constipation, second addmittance, cystitos( similar symmtoms of endometriosis) but cystitos is bladder problems, which is a painfull thing to have!!!!!!! third admittance, i had a laparosccopy, which revealed i had endometriosis, which is a poorly understood condition. although mines was mild, i had all the severity of the pains of the forementioned symptoms...wheras u might not even know that you have the condition, and takes you find out through a laporoscopy, or be in hospital having routine surgery for it to be discovered. and the only way to deal with condition, is taking the contrceptive pill, which mimicks the body to thinking you are pregnant, which the endometriosis dies down, also when you have your period, the endometriosis goes through a cycle of it`s own, but the blood does not leave the body, instead it travels through the fallopian tubes,& when one of the blood spots burst thats when you get the pain. this condition can also lead to infertility!!!! i had a hystorectomy 4yrs ago at the age of 29. if your symtoms are like the ones mentioned, please dont hesitate to discuss with your gp, and even ask to be reffered for a laporoscopy, it`s a common illness, but very poorly understood...if still unsurego online and go to sights that deals with this conition. i hope i have been of help to you..
