Interesting question for the Earth Sciences & Geology section!
Industrial rock augments the guitar-based music and songwriting structure of rock with the electronic instruments and noisy production techniques of industrial and electronic body music (EBM). Bands such Ministry (The Land of Rape and Honey, 1988) used typical EBM-sequences in their songs. Though superficially abrasive and often aggressive, industrial rock is generally more listener-friendly than traditional industrial.
Typical instrumentation for industrial rock bands centers on heavily-distorted or otherwise-effected guitars and synthesizers. Bass guitars and drums may be played live, or they may be replaced by sequencers and drum machines. Many groups also make extensive use of samplers.
"Alternative rock" is essentially an umbrella term for underground music that has emerged in the wake of the punk rock movement since the mid 1980s. Throughout much of its history, alternative rock has been largely defined by its rejection of the commercialism of mainstream culture. Alternative bands during the 1980s generally played in small clubs, recorded for indie labels, and spread their popularity through word of mouth. As such, there is no set musical style for alternative rock as a whole, although common traits among many alternative bands and subgenres include distorted or jangly guitars. Sounds range from the dirty guitars of grunge and the gloomy soundscapes of gothic rock, to the guitar pop revivalism of Britpop and the shambling innocence of twee pop, to name just a few examples. Lyrics in alternative rock songs typically address topics of greater social concern, such as drug use, depression, and environmentalism, an approach that developed as a reflection of the social and economic strains in the United States and United Kingdom of the 1980s and early 1990s.

Industrial rock must be any rock used by industry, although I have never heard it called that. I have never heard of alternative rock, but maybe it is something like concrete or cement. These terms are not used in Geology, although they may be used by the Industrial Sector. By definition a rock is any naturally occurring solid substance composed of two or more minerals.

selection is a extra punk/pop/emo all mixed into one. maximum bands describe themselves as selection in some way. steel has harder guitar rifts and has an older type to hint. Emo has a tendency to be a blend between the two, with lyrics that handle extreme subjects. there are various extra varieties of rock (hardcore, metalcore, techcore, pop rock) Metalcore and hardcore is the song with each and all the screaming. Techcore is the maximum modern starting to be in popularity. it is tecno with screaming. Pop rock is a few thing similar to the Jonas Brothers. Linkin Park: selection/Emo/steel/Hip-Hop Lostprophets: selection/Emo sick domestic canines: Emo Disturbed and 3 Days Grace: Emo/steel The Cranberries: selection Hoobastank: selection/...ehhh slightly emo Nickelback: selection Anberlin: selection/steel/Emo
