There are different cards that are available that are installed in different computers. The older computers had 802.11b cards, these were good for up to 75 feet, then the next generation came out which was 802.11g cards that are good up to 150 feet. Now the newest are 802.11g cards and they are faster in speed and in distance. There is a newer draft being worked on now that is 802.11n, it is not available yet.
Not all of the newer are interchangeable, some are, it depends on your computer. This can be very confusing and can get pretty hairy to understand all the in's and out's.
You have 2 choices, either educate yourself through your favorite search enjine, or learn from a tech or computer store.
Be sure you verify any information so you do not get bad information.

General range, or specific?

For general range, you would need to boost the power of BOTH ends.

For specific range, you build a highly directional antenna at each end. People are doing amazing things with old Pringles cans, to this end.

350m might be a bit of a stretch.

It all depends on the antenna and degree of obstructions. You could try this:

World record exceeds 100 miles.

2.4Ghz cordless phones also cause interference.
