Ideally, the ones that we learn from (whether good or bad) will last forever, as will the ones that make us happy. The ones that are bad and non-essential should be deleted ASAP.

I think movies are designed to entertain, provoke thought, envoke feeling and give you an escape from your own life to experience things you might otherwise not, and see art in all different kind of forms of creativity, imagintion and fantasy.
The ones that strike a chord with people naturally last forever. Those less appreciated fade. Most director's who set out to create a "classic" end up ruining the movie because they are distracted by that pressure, whereas the filmmakers who are purely in it for the art, the story, the blood-sweat and tears never expect when their films become legends.

Hello dear!
Well, both and depending on the importance to each one! Memory is a complex mechanism of our brains. As time and new memories are coming, they go over the elder ones and thus seem to "fade"; but, when new data are surfaced many memories replace others!

The majority of them are designed to fade anyway in order to make way for other of similar value. After all the human brain has a limited "storage capacity"

Very true; kindness does have an essance of greed when one is kind only because they wish to be treated that way in return. Although, from another perspective, those who are the kindest and remain true to their hospitality towards others through denial do very well prosper; not in terms or measurements concerning accompaniment or social acceptance, but instead succeeding in remaining the image that they wish they could see in the world. Instead of expecting kindness in return, or believing that it will come, they remove "self" from the equation, and become substance of their greatest desire on what they wish to see more of in the world. Its especially hard to not care about yourself when nobody else around you does... I wish i could say i've been kind to others through thick and thin, but eventually even the most cultured and dedicated practicers can soon lose grip on the noble rarity that is kindness without expectations.

some of them fade, but I really don't have any regrets, it's just my mind protecting itself from becoming overcrowded
