I went out with this guy who claims to be a christian, one day we were driving on a countryside road, when we noticed a pheasant in the middle of the road, I asked him to slow down to let the bird fly away. He replied by saying he doesn't see why because it is on his way.

I said its a bird for pity's sake its got a life and he said he doesn't undersand why I'm getting annoyed over this, as animals are of a lower falcuty to us and its not a big deal.

Did he at least pull over and turn it into dinner?
Pheasant is delicious.

If he didn't then he is an asshole. What a waste.

Absolutely Not , when driving down to Portsmouth, we see so many birds, foxes, that have been run over, I know it is hard to miss them on a motorway, but when you see birds ,cats, foxes, hedgehogs, on a minor road, I think it is a shame people do not take more care, My neighbour bought a baby pigeon in to me last week, it was sat in the middle of the road, some people swerved to miss it, so she picked it up in a jacket, I took it to the rspca, they said it was not bleding, but could have been hit at some point, soi I left it with them, I always slow down when there is a bird or something in the road, { yes I check to make sre there are no cars behind me }

If he had been travelling (within speed limit) and there ws an animal in the way which he could not possibly avoid because other traffic was behind, or he would have to swerve and there ws oncoming traffic, then perhaps it ws inevitable and he could not have done anything else. That is unfortunate, but if you have a choice, it is inexcusable. There is no excuse for anyone killing an animal if one can prevent it. Humans think they are so superior and can do just what they like. Yes, we are supposed to be superior, but for that very reason, we should use our so called superiority to protect all other species. In that respect, because we continue to hunt, kill and torture for 'fun' we have become the most barbaric species on earth because we should have the intelligence to know better.

In a word NO.

Animals feel pain etc. too of course it's not right. He's not a christian, if he wishes to cause pain & suffering.

Many humans are sadly not morally evolved enough to know any better. Many have animals killed purely for the lustful reason of wanting their flesh inside their mouths for a few seconds. Their suffering sadly gives many pleasure. Many use the excuse an animal would kill you as soon as look at you. But animals are not evolved enough to know what death is, they realy have an excuse. It doesn't mean they are stupid, like some people think- but even if they were, if I were to kill every stupid person for being stupid, there wouldn't be many people left. Plus animals can't always source food sources that don't cause death, we can. Nature has many ways of population control. Some humans try to fight it with imoral things like -stem cell research, but nature will always find a way to do so, so it's realy mostly in vain. We do not need to/should not add to the pain caused by nature.

Animals & padestrians have been around way longer than the car fad. They have the exclusive right of way. Unless you can't see them & you hit them, you are an a-hole & have no business driving. If you can't see them & that's your defense, you could equally not see a small child & are a danger & should be taken off the road too. I don't care if you kill yourself in your car, you took the risk by getting in the car, as long as you don't take the innocent with you.

Humans are selfish & this is a prime example. Many have a it suits my species, sod you attitude. But without the other links in the chain we would not be here, we are an ungrateful, selfish species. Global warming etc. we are the parasites of the earth at present. We are ignorant kill 'abort' humans, our own kind. Doesn't that tell us something! Are often not classed as existing until we have physical similarity to a mature human. Unfortunately mental inteligence & emotion can't be seen. Yet we remain ignorant to this, because it suits us. Even doctors who are supposed to be caring about people, will happily kill you until you reach 24 weeks of existance. Claiming the mothers mental health takes presidence-if she is prepared to kill another, she is mental & if she is prepared to kill herself rather than be allowed to kill another, I say let her. Or they will use the excuse the future of the child may be bleak-such things can change, the state helps or adoption etc. But you can never take back murder, its use should be only as self defense, if someone is physically going to kill you & only to be done if there is no other way. Ignorance costs lives. Shame on most of humanity.

No, he is not a Christian, he only claims to be such.

I agree with the answerer who said the guy has serious mental issues. I would add he is a danger for you too. He might be anything, but is he doesn't respect the life...
By the time, I know a man who claims to be Christian and considers the women inferior beings because in the Bible was written so.
What if your "Christian " BF thinks so?

that's mean of him, one time a bird that was injured flew right in front of my car and was on the ground as I was driving so Instead of just going forward or trying to avoid running it over, I stopped my car in the middle of the road and got out and picked it up with an old shirt in my back seat and held him and drove with him in my hand while trying to call animal control because It's a living thing..

It is acceptable, though I myself would probably stop and let it get out of the way, because I'm just that nice a guy (anyone who knows me on this site will disagree). It's a disgrace if he does that to an endangered species, and he can damn well stop if he's not in a hurry. Oh, and please don't generalise- Christians are by no means more morally sound than the rest of us.

In my opinion, someone who kills an animal for no reason has some serious isssues and problems. The lack of caring about a being would cause me to think this person would also have difficulty in truly caring for a person.

For you sake, if you stay with this man, I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.l

That bird had a life and had a right to be on this earth. It didn't deserve to pass away! The guy is cruel if he actually believes Humans have more right to be here than other creatures.

I don't think that what the animal is is the point. This guy is showing total disrespect for life. If he can't see the objection to senseless killing then something is off with his morality.
I think you should be going in the other direction from this guy.
