Get some 500mg Magnesium tablets from the health food store, or pharmacy. Magnesium is a muscle relaxant, and helpful for migraines and if you have leg or back/neck cramps. I take 2 a day every day. For a migraine it says on the back of the jar to take 3 twice a day.

I got a massive migraine once before, sometimes turning off lights and reducing the volume of sound helps, as well as chocolate, or so I was told. All I know was I hurt but got better reasonabley fast.

I take the meds my dr. has prescribed...Migrin, Maxalt, Imitrex, etc... Ice packs, dark room, a little caffeine, water, sleep, neck rub if it's in my neck. If the migraine goes on too many days and I've exhausted my meds, I may have to get an IV which has magnesium in it. Migraines suck and I've had way too many of them.

Turn down/off lights.
Put on some mellow music at low volume.
Heat water to make a cup of tea. Usually sleepy time with honey. Or some form of mint with honey.
Moisten a wash cloth and twirl it until it is cold.
Put this on the back of my neck.
Get my rabbit and some cherrios to feed him.
Sit down with him in my lap and just mellow out.

An ice pack on my temples or on the back of my neck sometimes helps...usually I just go to bed and try to sleep it off.
