i've been having a busy week and the day i was supposed to take out my nuva ring i just totally forgot. i'm nervous because all over the website and box it says 'do not leave in excess of three weeks' and i'm wondering if there's anything i should be aware of in this kind of situation. Attempted to call gynecologists as well, but as it's the weekend it has been to no avail. I'll call her on monday, but until then i need to know some information that will at least give me an idea of what to expect.

Prolonged use of NuvaRing®

If NuvaRing® has been left in place for up to one extra week (i.e., up to four weeks total), it should be removed and the patient should insert a new ring after the one-week ring-free interval.

If NuvaRing® has been left in place for longer than four weeks, pregnancy should be ruled out, and an additional method of contraception, such as male condoms or spermicide, must be used until a new NuvaRing® has been used continuously for seven days.
